The S3 is designed to meet the complex demands of shoulder CPM by providing several treatment options. Patient safety is the primary consideration of the design.

The S3-D features dual-drives synchronized to achieve sequential motion in internal/external rotation and flexion/extension or abduction/adduction.

The S3-S is a single-drive configuration and provides motion in flexion and extension or abduction and adduction only.

Both the S3-D and S3-S models can mount to the portable CPM chair for greater patient comfort and adjustment capabilities.

The single-drive, S3-H model is specifically available for attachment to a hospital bed.

A rechargeable motion controller with programmable memory allows for easy programming of range of motion. And for safety, there is a patient on/off thumb switch, and a reverse-on-load if motion is obstructed or resisted.

Indications

Immediate postoperative management after the following, where indicated:

• Rotator cuff repair
• Acromioplasty, particularly if operation has been repeated and when early physiotherapy cannot be assured
• Capsulotomy and arthrolysis for post-traumatic arthritis with restriction of motion
• Total shoulder replacement
• Synovectomy for rheumatoid arthritic and hemophilic arthropathy in the absence of acute inflammation, pain or bleeding
• Arthrotomy and drainage for acute septic arthritis
• In-joint contracture after manipulation
